Since 2004 it has been state-approved as a university of applied sciences by the Hessian Ministry for Science and Art and has been state-recognized since 2007. President from 2004 to 2016 was Werner Meißner . In June 2016, Florian Pfeffel, Director of Studies for many years, took over as President.
